Lieber Engelbert,
In großer Verbundenheit
ich glaube, du weißt wer.09.11.2022 21:10 - Ein ehemaliger Arbeitskollege

Heaven will be rejoicing at the arrival of this wonderful man who was a fantastic walking guide. Thank you for teaching me so much about the mountains. They will be grieving for your loss as are we who walked with you are. You will not be resting but enjoy your continuing walking.

May I quote ,from one of Schuberts wonderful Lieder when remembering our wonderful Leader.
“Meine Ruh’ ist hin
Meine Herz ist schwer
Ich finde sie nimmer
Und nimmermehr
Sein hoher Gang,
Sein' edle Gestalt,
Seines Mundes Lächeln,
Seiner Augen Gewalt,”
Engelbert sprinkled his magic Fairy Dust on all the tracks around Kitz , and we were all enchanted by the magic.
Engelbert was many things;-
As a guide he introduced us to the wonders of the mountains around Kitz
As a man he showed how to be considerate and kind to others
As a mountaineer he showed us an unmatched variety of walks, I did over 150 and only once did he fully repeat a walk
With his gentle ease, with his smiling face , with his confident professionalism he kept us safe and made us want to come back for more , year after year , decade after decade
If ever Kitzbuhel finds another guide who is just half the Wanderungsfuhrer that Engelbert has been for so many seasons then Tirol will still have the best guide in Europe.!
All who walked or ate or drank with him know that to be the case
But, as Joni Mitchell said .....
“Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you got 'til it's gone”
And.... above all things he was a wonderful man
He was truly the only man since I was a youth that inspired me to do things I never felt I could do.
“Meine Ruh’ ist hin
Meine Herz ist schwer”

Our sincere sympthy to the Pishanska family on the death of Englebert. We were shocked and saddened at the news of his passing. We got to know Englebert on Summer and Winter walks. He was a great and thrustworthy guide, he brought us to some wonderful places. It's hard to believe that we will never walk with him again. May he rest in peace in his beloved Tyrol. I was so sorry to hear about the death of Engelbert. He truly was a Kitzbuhel legend and the reason why I, like so many people, keep returning to the same place in both summer and winter to be guided by him. He will always be remembered for his enthusiasm, his sense of humour and his genuine love for his job and the mountains of Tyrol.
Rest in peace Engelbert17.12.2021 23:09 - Julie Mason

Our deepest condolences to all the family and friends. We are honoured to have counted Engelbert as a friend, albeit that we have only had the pleasure of walking with him since 2016. He had an obvious love for the mountains which he eagerly imparted to others. Whether in winter or summer we have always looked forwards to enjoying his cheeky humour as a joyful guide and walking companion on our visits to Kitzbuhel . He always made walks special whatever the weather. We will miss but never forget him. To Engelbert - prost und berg heil, until we meet again. Tony and Jacqui

Liebe Familie Prohaska,

Petra, Johann and Melanie, Aaron, Moriz and Marie.
Thinking of you all.
Englebert will always be with us in the mountains surrounding Kitzbuhel. He will never leave us. It was a privilege to have been able to walk with him over the years. It was a privilege to know him. He has been such a big part of our lives and especially on our wedding day (and all the photographs he took ). We will always treasure our memories of him. He was so proud of his family. Thank you Englebert xx15.12.2021 21:07 - Anna and Iain Lambie (Scotland)

Lieber Engelbert,

To Familie Prohanska,
Our sincere sympathy to you on the untimely death of Engelbert.
We were lucky to have walked with Engelbert for over 15 years, and we loved every minute of it! Engelbert was such an excellent guide, and friend. He loved Kitzbuhel, the mountains, Austria and walking and shared that with us and many other people, who returned to Kitzbuhel again and again to walk with him.
He will be missed so much.
Rest in Peace Engelbert.14.12.2021 23:25 - Una &John Kernan, Irland

Warum ?
Mein aufrichtiges Beileid an die Familie.

We are truly saddened to hear about the passing of Engelbert. He was a lovely man who worked tirelessly to share his love of the mountains and will be greatly missed.
From our very first walk with him in Kitzbuhel, he very quickly got the measure of Roger and his inability to walk at any other speed than that of a mountain goat! Engelbert embraced the challenge and sent Roger on regular detours that challenged him but let the rest of us arrive at the meeting point at about the same time. Engelbert went out of his way to make sure that everyone was included in the walk (even on my so-called “rest days”!) and in doing so, gave us many unforgettable days that we would never have experienced without him.

Whilst it is with great sadness that I heard of the passing of Englebert, for which I offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends, I will always remember the kindness and humour of the many occasions I was in his company from the time he started with Kitzbuhel Tourismus. Happy walking in heaven Englebert and may I have the good fortune to walk again with you there.

We are so sorry to hear the sad news about Engelbert, it is hard to believe we will never see his smile again. He made our holidays in Kitzbuhel so enjoyable and we always looked forward to seeing him again. He took us to places we could never have found ourselves and was always positive and encouraging when we doubted our abilities. We have so many wonderful memories of the time spent in his company, the beautiful scenery he brought us to, and the other wonderful people we met along the way. A light has gone out in the world. Our condolences to his family and all his many many friends.

Engelbert was a great friend and every year over the last ten he was one of the main reasons why I and my friends returned to Kitzbuehel. He made each and every one of our holiday most memorable. He was always so happy to see us as we were him and he will be greatly missed by one an all. My condolences to all of his family and loved ones. May you rest in peace.

Dear Familie Prohaska
Our deepest sympathies on the loss of your husband, father, son, brother and son-in-law.
Engelbert was a man who left a wonderful impression on so many people. You must be so proud of him. He took us to places that we would never otherwise have seen and united us with people that we would never otherwise have met. He got me out of some tricky situations on more than one occasion, for which he has my grateful thanks. I will remember his cheeky sense of humour, his sense of fun and his laugh always. He was a luminary of Kitzbühel to so many people, people who will lament his passing for some time to come. He leaves a hole than cannot be filled. For me, I will always be expecting to see him appear from somewhere, as he often did. I’ll still be looking for him.
To Engelbert. We followed you as our Wanderführer and we followed you as our friend, but you’re taking this hike without us. We’ll take the hike another day. We’ll see you at the summit. Berg heil!

We are full of sadness at the untimely death of our friend Engelbert and are remembering all of the wonderful times he gave us from our first meeting when he was so welcoming. He will leave a gap in all our lives especially when visiting Kitzbuhel, such a big hearted person who will never be forgotten. Our condolences to all his family.
